19th JDC Recovery Court Celebrates National Recovery Court Month

When one person rises, we All Rise”

Judge William M. Jorden encouraging graduates to persevere.

On May 17, 2024, during National Treatment Court Month, the 19th JDC Recovery Court Program celebrated the life, recovery, and determination of 14 graduating participants. In addition to successfully completing all graduation requirements, the participants have completed a combined total of 700 hours of community service within the Parish of East Baton Rouge. We are proud to say they are productive and contributing members of society and have been positive role models for other participants. This year two special awards were given:

1.    Sanction Free Award to the participant who followed every single rule and guideline.

2.   The Hung Tran Award to the participant who demonstrated strong moral character, compassion, and determination during times of extreme adversity.

Other highlights of the graduation festivities and National Treatment Court month included guest speaker, Ms. Maxine Esteve, and proclamations from the office of Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and from the office of Governor Jeff Landry.  Each graduate was also provides a gift bag on behalf of Community Advisor and participant advocate, Rev. Alexis Anderson, and Laketa M. Smith, Executive Director of Bella La Femme Society.

We thank everyone who participated in the graduation festivities.
