The Office of the Commissioner for the Nineteenth Judicial District Court

Effective July 1, 2024, the 19th JDC has implemented a Commissioners’ Court. There are four (4) Commissioners, assigned to Sections A, B, C, and D, who have been selected by a majority of the duly elected judges of the Nineteenth Judicial District Court to serve East Baton Rouge Parish.

Primarily, the Commissioners will assist the court in Criminal matters including bail hearings; call-out; arraignments; domestic violence C.Cr.P. art. 313 hearings; protective orders; and post-conviction relief petitions. The Commissioners will also focus on the following Civil matters - Civil Protective Orders; executory process; and prisoner suits.

The goal of the Commissioners’ Court is to provide the Judges with relief related to preliminary matters thereby permitting more efficient processing of all cases subject to the jurisdiction of the 19th JDC.
